An American Greetings Christmas card postmarked 1990 in Eureka was discovered in the San Francisco Chronicle photo files in 2007 and turned over to Vallejo police. It enclosed a photocopy of two U.S. Post Office keys on a magnet key chain. The envelope handwriting resembled the Zodiac Killer’s, but a forensic document examiner judged it inauthentic. According to coverage, the find energized researchers because it raised the possibility the Zodiac was alive long after the confirmed spree. See Letters of suspicious authorship.
